Several studies have not found a clear link between paraquat and PD. In 2010, researchers reported that paraquat was associated with PD in epidemiological and animal studies, but evidence that exposure to the chemical in humans increases the risk of PD is quite limited.
Several 'Syngenta paraquat cases' have been filed in courtrooms across the nation. Plaintiffs are often people who have worked with paraquat as farmers or farm workers or have lived near farms that regularly use paraquat and who have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease or other health problems that may be associated with them being linked with the herbicide.

If you or a loved one has been parachuted and suffers from Parkinson's disease or any of the other health problems listed above, you may be entitled to seek compensation for bodily injury.
However, recent research has turned things around, with results that are in line with previous research. Researchers found that low exposure to pesticides such as paraquat and maneb destroys cells in a way that mimics the effects of mutations known to cause Parkinson's disease.
Other studies suggest that there may be environmental factors, such as exposure to pesticides combined with genetic susceptibility to Parkinson's disease, that can increase the risk of disease. In this study, the researchers found that paraquat and another pesticide such as Rotenone-induced neurotoxicity interacts with proteins and causes damage similar to the pathogenesis of Parkinson's.
